What you need to know about COVID-19 and your drinking water.
The official story from the CDC is that the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. But they do recommend drinking water that has been filtered to remove viruses. Here's the extract from the CDC website…
We've talked for years about true water filter testing, so now is not the time to go and buy a cheap water filter in the hope that it removes viruses. Even if you've invested in a Reverse Osmosis water filter, if it's not scrupulously maintained, the RO element will begin to break down from chlorine that the prefilter lets through. In this case, you may be getting far more in your water than you think.
Our AlkaWay UltraStream uses the patented KDF media to achieve three things:
1. Neutralise heavy metals in your water
2. Reduce the effects of excess calcium in your water
3. Kill bacteria and viruses.
However, although we invested heavily in university safety and longevity testing, we didn't focus on the UltraStream's ability to kill viruses.
We know that KDF does it, but we don't know how well it does it.
So at this time, it's not the right thing to claim that it kills viruses. Here's a summary paragraph from the KDF people:
Independent laboratory tests confirm that KDF55 is one of the best tools for improving drinking and bathing water naturally and economically. Compared to carbon-only units, KDF55 lasts far longer, doesn't permit bacterial growth and removes a much wider range of inorganic matter (e.g. heavy metals). Compared to reverse-osmosis, KDF55 is less expensive, wastes no water, does not require membrane replacement, works at most water temperatures and pressures and removes chlorine. Compared to ultraviolet lights, KDF55 works in cloudy water doesn't require bulb replacement or electricity and removes inorganics. Compared to ozone, KDF55 provides a residual effect to keep bacteria from growing in water, does not require electricity and costs less.

These results come from the NSF testing so I regard them as triple-A-rated.
You may note that coronavirus is not on the list, for obvious reasons, but for me, that's good enough.I should inform you that this filter is in short supply, simply because of COVID-19 fears in people.
