About The Author

Felicia Drury Kliment is the author of “The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet” and “Eat Right for your Metabolism.” Her acid alkaline diet plan guides and shows how you can cure acid reflux and other degenerative diseases by following a simple diet program. In her early years as a classroom teacher in the public schools in New York City, Felicia Drury Kliment was determined to find the cause of the three disorders that plague the inner city school child: obesity, learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. The cause of all three, according to a research study she conducted with a colleague at City College, was diet. Since that time Kliment has focused her research, writing, and consulting practice on customizing diet for individuals of all ages and walks of life. Kliment has been widely published, including articles in academic journals during her tenure at City College. Among them are: Beyond Psychoanalysis: The Case for Nutritional Remedies for the Learning Disabled and Emotionally Disturbed, The Clearing House; Linking School-Based Diet with Behavior Disorders, Using Nutrients to Improve Brain Function in the Mentally Retarded, Thyroid and Health: A Fresh Perspective on the Consequences of Low Thyroid Function, Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation Nutrition Journal; Using Nutrition, Exercise, and Air to Heal the Lungs, New Living. Kliment was also a nutritional columnist for The Amsterdam News, the most prominent black newspaper in the New York area. She is the author of The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet published by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary in 2002. Kliment is currently a nutritionist with a flourishing practice. The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet I will be forever grateful to the author for all the time she put into researching and writing this book. Because of my acidic problem, I have kidney stones. The medication did not help, and am now in Stage 4 kidney failure. With this alkaline diet, and low protein, I have been able to maintain my stage 4. If doctors would only make everyone more aware, we could follow the balanced diet and live healthy. — LanaLee Nierodzinski What an eye-opener! The author describes the psyche of the food binger in such haunting and graphic terms that I feel that she is describing my own state of mind when I’m binging. She also describes the physical state of the body that causes the appetite to go out of control and what to do about it. I am an obese individual who, thanks to this book, am on the road to recovery. — Greta Offers Many Solutions To Common Ailments This is an excellent book on the subject of acid/alkaline balance in the body. The author obviously has many case studies and experience to draw on in dealing with patients using the “alkalizing” cure. The chapters deal with different ailments and provide remedies for each. Best of all, she’s not trying to market her own line of nutritional products throughout the book. There are dozens of recommended supplements, foods and other products, and a list of where to obtain them. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a cure, not for the symptoms but for the disease. Any student of natural health needs this book on the bookshelf. Especially nice is how some folk remedies are explained so that you understand how they actually function in the body. By the way, I took the niacin test and I’m a meat eater, not surprising for a Blood Type O. — Lisa M. Morrison All You Need For Better Health This is the best book I’ve ever read on the impact of diet on health. The author targets the real cause of degenerative disease: acid waste from inappropriate diet. She outlines a simple self test which reveals what foods are appropriate for the individual. Her diets include all types of foods but in different proportions depending on your metabolic type. Each metabolic type (grain eater and meat eater) is allowed a small amount of foods assigned to the opposite metabolic type. For example, she recommends that the grain eater eat a lot of fish and poultry but that the meat eater eat fish and poultry in much smaller increments. Another example of this is her proposal that the grain eater should consume a lot of green leafy veggies while she emphasizes root vegetables for the meat eater. I like this approach because, by eating all types of food you get the whole range of nutrients the body needs to function properly. Kliment’s book, along with Sang Wang’s book, Reverse Aging, which provides good background information on acid alkaline pH factors– is all the reader needs to take control of his/her body and attain a good state of health and mental well being. — Lisa McCullough
