How long should a sediment filter last?

Because many people have no experience, they have no idea of how long a water filter should last. We always remind people that the determining factor is the cleanliness or otherwise of their water that determines filter life. Today a client rang to ask whether six months was reasonable as a lifespan for his sediment filter in his AlkaWay whole of house filter.

We checked his location – Perth, and learned that yes, he was doing very well indeed. In the Perth hospital a similar installation with a different type of filter lasted… wait for it.. FOUR DAYS
