Most filters available in ionizers today are three to five stages and employ only granulated activated charcoal (GAC) and some form of calcium. The system employs 9 stages of filtering media to clean your water and prepare it to make the most of ionization process. The BioStone employs Silver impregnated GAC, calcium, tourmaline (in the form of Bio Ceramic beads that slightly alter the electrical properties - even before ionization) and a fiber mesh system.
