The Facts

Chlorine is a gas that is held in water by water pressure within our pipes. It vaporizes in hot shower water and, when inhaled in the lungs, is transferred into the blood stream. The most advanced shower filter on the market. Removes chlorine, chloramines, VOC's, THM's, pesticides, sulphur, heavy metals (iron and copper), hydrogen sulfide ("rotten egg" odor), iron oxides ("rust water"), dirt, sediment and other odors..... and it's pH balanced!!  It works in the shower by filtering the water through each stage of ERA-6500 and ERA-9500 and then Granular Activated Carbon. AlkaWay's CQ Shower Filter Reversibility

The reversible filter cartridge lasts about a year. You receive high performance, easy operation and maintenance -with the ultimate in structural integrity and overall reliability. In our research we found it was the strongest replaceable shower filter available. Simple periodic reversing of the cartridge ensures continued high filtration and eliminates the potential for water channelling – a problem of many cheaper systems. Channelling is the creation of tubes within the media through which water passes, thus escaping filtration. It's a common problem in loose-media shower filters and the user never even knows – except perhaps for the chlorine smell.

In the shower filter, water travels down through the central tube, then passes through both ERA-6500 and ERA-9500 media for de-chlorination and enhancement of pH balance. Next, the water travels through the GAC (granular activated carbon) stage to reduce contaminants and finally exits through the shower head. 

For a normal family of four on municipal water, the shower filter should last a year.
