FLUORIDE: A SERIOUS PROBLEM

At AlkaWay we've responded to the problem of fluoride in your water in a number of ways, depending upon the AlkaWay system you choose.

Fluoride is a very difficult mineral to remove from water - far harder than chlorine or chloramine. There are only two recognised ways to remove fluoride; AA (Activated Alumina) and Reverse Osmosis. Deionisation is still sold but it has major hazards for domestic use.

In a special laboratory created ‘witches’ brew’ of pesticides, volatile organics, fluoride chlorine, and minerals, the AlkaStream changed a pH of 6.5 to an output pH 9.5. Please be aware that like any water ionizer, pH output is always dependent upon the mineral makeup of the input water.

Fluoride removal and your Water Ionizer (Alkaliser)

In tests we have carried out, the Melody Water Alkalizer (Ionizer) removed 42% of fluoride from input Gold Coast supply. This happens because fluoride is an acidic element and therefore is removed in the acid water stream. Further testing is required because we believe that it will perform even better than this under more controlled measurement conditions.

The use of an Activated Alumina (AA) prefilter, which will remove up to 70% of fluoride has proven very successful and we have many, many clients taking this approach.

By Combining an AA fluoride prefilter with a Water Alkaliser (Ioniser) filter you can remove approximately 85% of the fluoride from you water.

Maximum Fluoride Control with the Alkaline RO

The most efficient fluoride control method is the use of Reverse Osmosis (RO). Over the years we were faced with the problem of RO removing all minerals from the water, making it useless for alkalising. However after two years of research and testing, we have developed the AlkaPure, a full undersink RO system that gives the highest possible fluoride reduction plus delivers alkaline ionized water.
   
 

These methods Do NOT Remove Fluoride

  • Boiling Water This will concentrate the fluoride rather than reduce it.
  • Freezing Water Freezing water does not affect the concentration of fluoride.
