Caffeine Addicted E-Coli?

Yes indeed. Scientists have created a new strain of E-Coli (as if there weren’t enough of the old one to go round). But here’s where it gets weird. The new strain is permanently ADDICTED TO CAFFEINE!

I have to wonder whether much research these days is carried out BEFORE a benefit is known, and when the research creates something unusual, they begin thinking up a possible use. It goes without saying that if they can’t explain why they spent so much on a study, they will drop down the funding list, so it behooves them to make something up.

The report on the study tells us that there are serious pollution problems from caffeine in the form of coffee grounds. Looking at Starbucks at 8;30 am with people lining up for their shot of Joe, I never contemplated the sheer volume of waste coffee grounds.

So the scientists have bred these nasty little critters up. E-Coli ARE nasty, make no mistake. But these custom made E-Coli are ..er, good E-Coli because we may be able to set ‘em loose on coffee grounds strewn around the environment. So coming to a store near you, “E-Cafi” your handy Tetrapack of caffeine addicted E-Coli. Just open the pack and set ‘em loose on that lump of coffee grounds you found on your lawn this morning. Plastic gloves included with every pack. be sure to wash hands after use.

Getting a little mores serious, caffeine is a paid up member of the Methylxanthine group – molecular compounds that act simultaneously as cardiac stimulants, diuretics, and smooth muscle relaxants. While the most commonly known form is caffeine, certain of these compounds are used as bronchodilators to stimulate the cardiovascular and respiratory systems in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They are able to provide short-term relief from the effects of COPD, and can be administered immediately in the event of a respiratory episode.

More and more information is arising showing an increasing volume of all forms of medications in our water supply. Rest assured an AlkaWay water filter system will reduce or remove most if not all of these rather Frankensteinian contaminants.

Bulletproof Coffee

OK, OK, I know. Coffee is acidic.

But.. I’m only human – and I did just return from a  culture whose God is coffee, whose day revolves around and begins with coffee, so give me  a break if I failed to abstain for six months in Italy. After all I did manage to eat NO PASTA and NO GELATI for six months and remain ketogenic on our alkaline paleo diet…

So.. here’s a pic of my morning coffee. It’s a huge thing in the US Paleo community right now, using an organic mould-free Guatemalan coffee bean, but whilstIi didn’t even know there was mould in coffee, I couldn’t say our specially imported Bulletproof coffee was different from Vittoria.

However… take a look at my morning coffee. Strange look, right? That’s how a dessert spoon of coconut oil looks in a long black. We drank long blacks in Italy – Cafe Americano - because we were both off dairy. What we found to our surprise was that the fat in the dairy in the cappucinos slowed down the caffeine effect. Now if that’s what you like.. that’s fine, but once we became accustomed to long black, we found a ‘high’ we’d never had before, and in my case without the big ‘downer’ I experienced with a normal capuccino. (Reading this post to Cassie, she disagrees: she says it’s my Alkaline paleo diet that had cured me of my ‘angry hour’ downer I used to have with coffee. yes, I believe she’s right! – as usual!)

Of course everyone’s reaction to coffee varies, but why the coco oil? Well, you know I’ve been rattling on about the goodness and health benefits of saturated fats ever since Cassie weaned me off the alkaline diet’s sugar secret stash.. and I have learned that good saturated fats are the BEST energy powerhouse food you can give to yourself. So a dessertspoon of coco oil in my long black is the fuel that takes me into orbit once the caffeine blasts me off. Yes, it takes a few cups to get used to it, but one thing I’ve learned in my Alkaline Paleo diet is that my food preferences are very weak when challenged with a substitution, and it’s my MIND that is the problem more than any perceived bodily reaction. In fact I have changed so many of my food preferences on the diet, recognising as I changed that so many of them were not ‘preferences’ but addictions.

Are You a Live To Eat OR a Eat to Live Kind of Person?

Looking For A Different Passion Other Than Food?

I have been a Live to Eat (and drink)  kind of person…

… and changing over to a Eat to Live person has been an interesting… and challenging experience.
I realised I actually needed to find my passion to fill my need for meaning instead of using food for that purpose. No more thinking constantly of what treat to make or to buy or looking in the fridge constantly to see if something have magically appeared that takes my fancy as a way of filling in the space inside.

I think the journey towards my passion is an ongoing odyssey.  It changes and grows as I change and grow and getting healthy and sharing everything I have learnt with anyone who will listen (hence this blog)  is a  big part of my passion.

The more I am on the Alkaline Paleo Diet the more I feel the world is opening up for me.  Some of this is to do with increased energy and brain power but also I feel my 5 senses are working much much better.
I enjoy what I eat more, I appreciate my surroundings more and sex has become  much more  enjoyable.   Orgasms has become a thing of wonder and I don’t remember ever having this kind of experience before even when I was younger.   I think this is pretty good for a peri-menopausal women of 52!  One reason, I’m pretty sure, is that my hormonal system is now much healthier probably healthier than it’s ever been.  Getting those necessary fats has allowed my body to balance my progesterone, oestrogen and testosterone ratios, my sex hormones.
Going Out to a Cafe, Restaurant or Drink at the Pub
Going out has mostly been about having a meal,  a coffee or an alcoholic drink or at least always has been a big part of the outing.

It’s certainly not impossible to go out for a meal as long as I pick the right restaurant and order only the meat and above ground vegetables.  Unfortunately it’s always the better restaurants (more expensive) that will have better quality foods and oils and be more accommodating for my needs.  Forget eating at takeaways or fat food places, they just don’t have anything to offer.

When I eat out I try make sure I get enough good fat in my meal, as there isn’t  the usual potato or pasta as a filler. This will make sure I am  full and so won’t be tempted to order a dessert.  I will ask  for some extra virgin olive oil or I will bring some butter, ghee or coconut oil to put on my meal myself.

I will drink mostly mineral water with a little lemon juice squeezed into it. This drink is amazingly satisfying.  The other really good drink to have, when I can get it,  is a pot of green tea.

Going out for a coffee can be more problematic.   As long as I have a small long black very occasionally I don’t see it as a problem, otherwise a long black decaf.  But coffee is very strong and some people are definitely better off without it.  And the pub?  I really don’t find this is easy at all but as recovering alcoholics can do it well, it must be possible.
Would you be interested to discover how food can either rule our lives or how we can be the captain of our our bodies?
Looking at, and finding the answers to this question is my passion!

Despite access to so much historical information our leaders keep making the same mistakes over and over again.  Why do they do this?
I think the way we have been eating has caused so much problems on a chemical level within our bodies and brains that we haven’t been able to evolve much as a species.  We certainly keep making the same mistakes again and again and never seem to learn anything from our history.  What’s the use of history unless we see the mistakes and stop repeating them?

Is Coffee OK? The Drink We Love and are so Addicted to!

Cover your ears if coffee is a daily essential!

When we drink coffee it goes into your stomach first, and it has an irritant effect on the stomach lining. The word ‘stomach’ here means the organ between your oesophagus and duodenum. It’s the pipe that fills the stomach, and the stomach. With leaky gut we often have ongoing inflammation right in the stomach and we suffer from reflux, indigestion, burping and heart burn. Drinking coffee, particularly on an empty stomach, will aggravate this situation. If you suffer from any of the above, do not drink coffee until your stomach has healed and your reflux and other symptoms in that area have gone for good. Once on your way to recovery one cup a day (on a full stomach! – so, at the end of a meal) is usually tolerated, but not by everybody. So, make sure that it agrees with you.

It’s my experience, even within our very health-conscious family, that leaky gut is a common but unknown problem. Along with toxins, it affects everything. Even when we do everything right, a leaky gut may persist well after we remove external toxins, and that’s why we need a diet that is specifically designed to heal the gut and keep us healing until we can once again savour the aroma of a fresh cup of long black!

What my real experience is I don’t need coffee like I did before. I can easily get through my day without this artificial hit, I know, I know, hard to believe isn’t it?

If you are a regular coffee drinker (even only one a day) have you experienced getting actually depressed, anxious, foggy brained, angry or just plain lethargic it you don’t have that coffee?

The truth is I was feeling that way because all those starchy carbohydrates were feeding the micro-organisms that were having a opioid like effect on my brain. These foods were making me crave more of these foods which were causing my unhealthy gut. Add to this the toxins made by the bad gut micro-organisms circulating in my blood and no wonder I wanted a coffee for an energy lift, a mood enhancer and brain boost.

So now I don’t need that coffee lift, I have energy, I am clear thinking and I am more balanced emotionally from good nutrition.
